A visual archive of fleeting moments. The composition fragments and reassembles the past, suggesting that memory is not a single, clear image, but a collection of beautifully textured remnants. Long walks, long talks and staying for a while after dark. Remember those days gone by, the way it used to be. The warm, earth-toned palette and anchoring line work evokes a sense of nostalgia.
BIOGRAPHY
Glenn Miller is an Australian painter who explores the way memory shapes our sense of place, identity and belonging. Working primarily in acrylics on canvas, he moves fluidly between abstraction and figuration. His current practice is characterised by flattened forms, luminous colour relationships and carefully orchestrated compositions, in which figure fragments emerge within geometric colour fields that evoke psychological interiors.His paintings are held in private, public and corporate collections in Australia and internationally, including Perpetual Trustees, Sydney; Hartwyk Slowinski, Newark, USA; and the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery. His large-scale painting Christmas Eve was displayed at the Crown Casino, Melbourne, before entering a private collection.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I seek to evoke the experience of remembering itself. For me, memory is never a single, complete image, but rather an assemblage of fleeting moments.
